Practice Boxing Gloves
Jun 06, 2024| Generally speaking, boxing gloves have more padding to prevent the opponent from getting injured. Regardless of size and weight, few people use gloves below 16oz unless you are really short (weighing less than 120 pounds). In theory, you can use a 14oz glove, but it's best not to practice with someone who uses a 16oz glove. If you weigh over 175 pounds and have strong muscles, you should use 18oz or 20oz gloves, and make sure your opponent's gloves are not smaller than yours, otherwise you will suffer in this unequal situation.
Another consensus is that in practical training, you should always use the gloves specified by your level. If your level requires a 10oz glove, then use a 10oz glove. Of course, you should take it step by step, not rush for success, and avoid injuring yourself before the competition. My personal suggestion is that beginners should use larger gloves, which are more conducive to safety. As their level improves, they can adjust to match standard gloves.
