What should I be aware of when using a wrestling dummy?
Feb 18, 2025| Although a weighted grappling dummy won't fight back like a real person, you still need to be careful not to get yourself injured and remember to warm up well before training and wear appropriate sportswear and shoes. If you are a novice, don't try too difficult moves at first. You can start with simple holds, over-the-chest wrestling, etc. and slowly increase the difficulty. When using a wrestling dummy, focus on your wrestling technique and pay attention to your posture and strength. This will improve your wrestling better. Take rest during training and don't overuse your strength to avoid muscle strain or overexertion.
Firstly, hold wrestling dummy heavy's waist from the side, and then lift it upwards with force, and then turn around quickly to wrestle it to the ground. If you want to practice a chest drop, approach the dummy head-on, grab its shoulders or upper arms with both hands and pull it towards you, then quickly turn around and drop it to the ground. To practise the leg technique, stand on the side of the dummy and quickly sweep one leg towards its supporting leg, causing it to lose its balance, and then take the opportunity to wrestle it to the ground. Once you have mastered the basic grappling techniques, you can try using a combination of these techniques for more complex grappling scenarios, such as holding the grappling dummy to the ground, and then quickly using a leg technique to drop it again when it tries to get up.
When you try to wrestle a grappling throwing dummy, be aware of your power control to avoid getting hurt by pushing too hard. When using leg techniques, be careful to keep your body balanced to avoid falling due to loss of balance. Always observe the condition of the wrestling dummy during training to ensure that it is not damaged due to overuse.
